BOOK ARTISTWhile each cultivates a deeply personal style in their respective solo projects, what happened after Nico Castro and Pepo Fernández started sharing the stage could be aptly described as the magic birth of a truly unique and different persona. It all started spontaneously in January 2019, when they were invited to DJ a b2b set at local highlight Recreo Festival. The quick musical connection between them, as well as the instant bond they created with the crowd, brought a series of new show requests that helped them craft their artistic approach as a powerful duo. That is how Aerobica was born — a monthly residency at Santiago’s Noa Noa Club, where they played six hour all-nighter sets, and also a concept that includes the music they started creating in the studio: lots of energy, no prejudices and a strong sense of community. The main idea is that seeing them becomes a new and unpredictable experience each time, in a cocktail that seamlessly melts disco, italo disco, jackin’ house, sentimental techno and basically anything they feel like mixing on that given day, from forgotten classics to rare findings. The mandatory pause brought by the pandemic made them focus on tirelessly producing in the studio, which resulted in releasing their debut EP on NYC’s Homage Records in 2021. After the reopening, Aerobica started throwing itinerant events in spectacular venues in Santiago that quickly sell out, bolstering their reputation as the hottest act Santiago’s underground scene has to offer.
